Teaching
children to brush their teeth a very long process for most parents.
Many start teaching their kids from the age of one. It's vital to
start kids on low or non-fluoride toothpaste, as fluoride can be
extremely harmful if swallowed, especially to kids under six years
old. Children who are learning to brush often swallow their paste
and often won't fully learn to brush properly till the age of eight.
Some toothpaste brands offer flavors so delicious that kids, even
as they brush, eat their fluoridated toothpaste like candy. There
is danger here, because in worst cases it can be fatal or at the
very least become very sick from ingesting the fluoride with symptoms
such as nausea, stomach pains, vomiting, headaches, etc. Certainly
they may come down with dental fluorosis, a condition characterized
by mottled tooth enamel, which is opaque and may be stained.

Vitamin C in Amla is uniquely heat-stable and assimilative hence
is very useful to stop external bleeding because it is a good astringent.
Licorice
- Soothing/healing on mouth ulcers and antiseptic. Licorice also
exhibit potent antibacterial activity against cavities or combat
other problem bacteria. Researchers at the University of California
in a test tube studies showed that an extract from a plant root
that is used to make licorice candy and other products contains
at least two compounds that appear to be potent inhibitors of Streptococcus
mutans, a major cause of dental caries.
Basil
(Tulsi) - Antiseptic anti-bacterial astringent suitable for children
and adults alike, it’s very effective for the ulcer and infections
in the mouth. Basil also counter bad breath is also useful in pyorrhea
and other teeth disorders.
Less
abrasive - gentle cleaning to safeguard tooth enamel. Commonly
found chalk base toothpastes are more abrasive on tooth enamel.
